Daffodil Nurse Education Bursary
The Irish Cancer Society, as the national charity for cancer care, has a long established track record of supporting diploma and higher diploma education programmes in oncology nursing. Such education programmes have been university based and prepare nurses for specialist roles on cancer and palliative care. Higher Diploma/Graduate Diploma courses in Cancer and Palliative Care Nursing are available in University College Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, National University of Ireland, Galway and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
The Daffodil Nurse Education Bursary was designed to provide practical encouragement to nurses to pursue specialist education in cancer nursing, and thereafter apply the acquired skills in the hospital or community setting, so as to provide the highest standard and quality care to people with cancer.
Having been involved in supporting post graduate education in cancer and palliative care for over 20 years the Irish Cancer Society has now decided to invest in the development of cancer and palliative care nursing through supporting participation on Doctorate and Post Doctorate research. The Society publishes a call for applications for Fellowships and Scholarships.
We strongly encourage all cancer and palliative care nurses to consider making application.
